THE CHAOTIC
The Chaotics have taken over the Human cities and live in the ruins of the houses and buildings there - pretty much, they desire to be humans, or at least equal to what the humans had been before. They want to have control over the things that go on in the world, and become the new "top of the food chain." They believe that the "New" canines are a superior race and, as a superior race, should lord over all the "inferior" others.
Common prospects throughout Chaotic canines are a form of religion - "Lunarian," worship of the Moon God Luna - and a government, as well as a trade/monetary system, but not all share these ambitions.
Despite being called "Chaotics," they are very intelligent, very organized, and very strategic creatures. The name actually comes from the Ancestrals, who deem the changes put in place by the Chaotics to be, well, chaos-inducing.
The Chaotics' system of packs is actually called "Clans." The Hierarchy/titles are as follows:
Sire: (Male leader; equal to the Dame.)
Dame: (Female leader; equal to the Sire.)
The Deputy: (Second-in-command; can be male or female. They are there to provide a "tie-breaker vote" if the situation demands it.)
The Blood: (The offspring of the Sire and Dame.)
Heir Apparent: (Firstborn offspring of the Sire/Dame. Will become Sire/Dame when his/her parents retire. Has little say in the matter.)
The Captain: ("Tactics" leader. Leads hunting packs as well as military missions.)
The Hunter: (The Captain's second-in-command. Follows order of the Captain.)
The Centurions: (First-ranks of the Clan's army. Those within this position are most likely to be promoted to Hunter or Captain. Limit to five per clan.)
The Warriors: (The average-ranking members of the Clan. Mostly battle-oriented.)
The Scouts: (Those unfit for battle-orientation but alright for hunting, carrying out tasks, and running messages between Clans or territories. Also average-class.)
The Apprentices: (Warriors or Scouts in training. They are reviewed by the Captain and the Hunter and designated into either Warrior or Scout position.)
The Lunas: (Usually female. The sort of "religious" leader of the Clan, if that Clan follows the Lunarian religion - otherwise, the Lunas is responsible for the health and distribution of medicine throughout the Clan. During emergency situations, the Lunas ranks even above Sire/Dame.)
The Elders: (Retired Clan members; they are given the utmost respect, even by the Sire and Dame.)
The Watchers: (Those designated to watch over pups.)
The Young: (Those too young to be designated into Apprentice categories.)
The Jester: (Like the Omega in regular wolf packs, the Jester is there to break tension and provide comedic relief. Not necessarily a disliked member of the pack, simply not fit for any other rank.)
The Denied: (The lowest rank possible without being thrown from the pack entirely. Once a canine has been made a member of the Denied, it is nearly impossible for him or her to gain any other rank.)
The Forgotten: (Those exiled from the Clan.)
THE ANCESTRAL
Ruled by tradition, the Ancestral believe that the way the ancestors lived is the correct way to live, and despite changes in the nature of wolves and canines in general, the actual way of life should not change. They rarely venture into the city and prefer to stick to the forests. They rarely use their "magic" abilities, save for in emergencies, and they follow the ages-old Wolf hierarchy system.
Generally, only the Alpha Pair can mate, but some packs break from that tradition if numbers are low and more pack members are needed.
Alpha Male: (Lead male; equal to alpha female.)
Alpha Female: (Lead female; equal to alpha male.)
Beta Male: (Second in command; most likely to take on the role of Alpha.)
Beta Female: (Second in command; most likely to take on the role of Alpha.)
Sigma: (Sometimes lead hunting packs, other times they are just there to keep things in order.)
Selsa: ( Exactly like the Sigmas, but are also favoured in the rank of "pack babysitter.")
Deltas: (The "first" promotion. They are the "eyes and ears of the masses," and report back any insubordination witnessed in the Pack to the higher-ranking others.)
Epsilons: (They hold no real "rank," they're just there to follow orders and occasionally keep others in line. They are most likely to be promoted.)
Iota: (The "bulk." When a pup grows into adulthood, s/he is given the automatic rank of "Iota.")
Omegas: (The "scapegoat" of the pack. All anxiety is taken out on the Omega, and despite this general abuse the Omega is a very much loved member of the pack.)
Pups: (Canines that haven't yet reached adulthood.)
Elders: (Those too old to fight or hunt. They are cared for by the rest of the pack.)
Exiled: (Those kicked from the pack.)
THE IMPARTIAL
Rather self-explanatory, the Impartials are those who either don't care about the battle between the Chaotics and the Ancestrals, would rather wait until one side is close to "winning" before jumping into the fray, or agrees with bits and pieces from each and cannot truly join one side or the other.
They are entirely free - some may choose to create packs and stick to themselves, others decide on a new, entirely different way to do things. Anything is really possible for an Impartial canine, but if the time comes when either the Ancestral or the Chaotic side wins the battle over the world, it is unknown what the fate of the vastly independent, prideful Impartials will be.
The packs of Impartials can follow whatever rules their leaders set in place for them, whatever hierarchy the leader decides on, and whatever traditions or beliefs the leader desires.
